Our handmade keychains come with our small sacs made out of leftover fabrics from different quilting motifs. The small sacs may vary from one another, as the images we present online since they are produced from leftover materials of production.


AN world that started with handmade quilts took a turn when we came across Mert Sandalci’s collection of prisoners' beadwork. His motive to gather one of the biggest archives in the world was: 

  • To ensure that this art, which emerged in prisons and is extremely difficult to make, survives and finds the social and cultural value it deserves.
  • To develop more creative ideas by talking to the inmates and increasing the product variety. 
  • To ensure that these objects, which are very valuable abroad, can find their true value in the country and bring much more income to the artist prisoners. 


Therefore, we are introducing these one-of-a-kind pieces made by prisoners in Afyon and artisans in Elazig to you.

Ana Nevi WORLD 2: CRAFTED TRANSITIONS, reflects a fusion of tradition and modernity, transforming artisanal crafts of Turkey more towards everyday wear.


Collaborating with quilt makers, embroidery masters and prison beadwork artisans and adapting their traditional production methods, the language of wearable forms we create signifies an evolution towards more flexible designs that meet the demands of modern life, yet still frames itself outside the confines of adhering to the fashion industry's calendars.

Shape

Prisoner Beadworks, skillfully crafted in Turkey for over a century by inmates and former prisoners, are central to Ana Nevi's ethos. The motivation of Ana Nevi is to collaborate with artisans who traditionally practice their crafts in their own contexts to rediscover them in new forms.

The value of Prisoner Beadworks lies in collaborating with the artisans, allowing this labor-intensive crochet technique to find its true worth and become an integrated part of a more widely recognized and artisan fashion-adapted production cycle.
